Navigating Perimenopause  or Menopause?
You’re Not Alone.

I'm Dr Samia and I  provide compassionate, evidence-based GP care to support women through hormonal changes with clarity and confidence.

GP with special interest in Perimenopause & Menopause

About

I’m Dr Samia Maciel Camelo, a General Practitioner with a special interest in perimenopause and menopause, providing personalised, evidence-based care for women navigating hormonal change.

I graduated in Brazil in 2008 and worked as a General Practitioner there before relocating to Australia in 2017. Since then, I have practised across Far North Queensland between 2019 and 2022, before moving to the Gold Coast, where I continue my GP work today.

Throughout my medical career, I have always been drawn to women’s health. In recent years, this interest has deepened as I have seen — both professionally and personally — how profoundly hormonal changes can affect a woman’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and sense of self. Many women describe feeling dismissed, confused, or unsure about what options are available to them during perimenopause and menopause.

These experiences have shaped the way I practise. I place strong emphasis on listening carefully, validating symptoms, and providing clear, up-to-date information so women can make informed decisions about their care. My approach is grounded in current clinical guidelines, shared decision-making, and respect for each woman’s individual experience.

I aim to create a calm, supportive space where women feel comfortable discussing sensitive concerns and asking questions — without feeling rushed or judged. I am fluent in English and Portuguese, and I welcome women from all backgrounds.

My priority is that every patient feels listened to, informed, and supported at every stage of her journey.
