About
I’m Dr Samia Maciel Camelo, a General Practitioner with a special interest in perimenopause and menopause, providing personalised, evidence-based care for women navigating hormonal change.
I graduated in Brazil in 2008 and worked as a General Practitioner before relocating to Australia in 2017. Since then, I have practised across Far North Queensland from 2019 to 2022, and I am now based on the Gold Coast.
Throughout my medical career, I have been particularly drawn to women’s health. Over time, this interest has developed into a focused commitment to supporting women through perimenopause and menopause.
I have seen — both professionally and personally — how significantly hormonal changes can affect physical health, emotional wellbeing, and overall quality of life. Many women describe feeling dismissed, confused, or uncertain about what is happening and what options are available to them.
These experiences have shaped the way I practise.
I place strong emphasis on careful listening, recognising and validating symptoms, and providing clear, up-to-date information. My approach is grounded in current clinical guidelines and shared decision-making, supporting each woman to make informed choices about her care.
Consultations are designed to allow time to explore concerns in detail, in a calm and respectful environment where sensitive topics can be discussed openly.
I am fluent in English and Portuguese and welcome women from diverse backgrounds.
My aim is that every patient feels heard, informed, and supported throughout her care.
